Grounds Management Team

Peter J. Rappoccio, CGCS
Golf Course Superintendent

I am excited to begin my ninth season at Concord CC as your Golf Course Superintendent.  I am certainly not new to golf course management. I have been around this business my whole life having grown up as the son of a Superintendent. My career started when I was thirteen going to work everyday with my Dad who is the Superintendent at Silver Spring CC in Ridgefield, CT. Working alongside my Dad gave me the drive and passion to succeed in this business. Throughout high school I spent my summer mowing greens, raking bunkers, and filling divots. I enrolled in Virginia Tech to pursue my education formally. I graduated in 2001 with a BS in Turf Management with two minors in Business Administration and Horticulture. During college I did three internships in the Northeast (Westchester CC, Woodway CC, and Silver Spring CC).

Upon graduation from Virginia Tech, I was hired as an Assistant Superintendent at Oakland Hills Country Club in Bloomfield Hills, MI. There I played an integral role on a team designed to maintain a top 100 championship golf course. At OHCC we hosted the 2002 United States Amateur Championship and the 2004 Ryder Cup Matches. After three great years in Michigan, I moved back to New York and was hired as the Assistant Superintendent at Westchester Country Club in Rye, NY. After spending 5 terrific years there as an Assistant, I was fortunate to be hired as Concord Country Club’s Golf Course Superintendent.

James Tyler
Senior Assistant Superintendent

I am ready and eager to begin my fourth year as an active member of Concord Country Club’s management team.  I joined the grounds staff in the spring of 2013 as an intern and have had the privilege of being a full time employee since the completion of my Bachelor’s Degree in Plant Soil & Insect Science (Turfrgrass Science concentration) in the spring of 2014 from the University of Massachusetts Amherst.  My prior experience includes an internship at Maidstone Golf Club, NY; internship at The Broadmoor East Course, CO (2011 U.S. Women’s Open); and seasonal employment at Stow Acres Country Club, MA; Maynard Country Club, MA.  My passion for the industry and the game of golf began at a young age, volunteering at Butternut Country Club, MA and playing golf for Maynard High School.  Outside of work I enjoy spending time with my Australian Shepherd Jackson, fishing, working out and playing billiards.

Pat Flannery
Equipment Manager

Pat joined Concord in 1987 and has been the club's mechanic ever since.  Pat's vast knowledge of the equipment and the golf course are invaluable to the operation.  His passion truly is fixing things and there isn't much he doesn't tackle.  I believe he knows exactly where every pipe is and where it goes!

Pat is a graduate of the Stockbridge School of Agriculture.  In his spare time, Pat enjoys fishing and is a NASCAR fan.  He and his wife, Laura reside in Maynard.

David Miethe, Jr.
2nd Assistant Superintendent

I am excited to begin my second season at Concord Country Club and my first as an assistant superintendent. I became a part of the grounds crew in January of 2017, employed as an intern. Upon completion of my two-year turf certificate from Rutgers Professional Golf Turf Management School in December of 2017, I became part of the staff on a full-time basis. I am grateful for the chance to increase my role and I’m eager to leave a positive impression on the golf course. Prior to coming to Concord, I received a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst with a double major in Communication and Spanish. This will be my sixth season in the turfgrass industry, having worked at Sharon Country Club and as a foreman for a local landscaping company in my hometown of Walpole, MA. In my spare time I enjoy golfing, playing softball and basketball, as well as rooting on the Boston sports teams.

Derek O'Dea

2nd Assistant Superintendent
After being hired in November, 2017, I am happy to continue my career as an Assistant Superintendent at Concord. I have spent the past 5 years in the Turf Management field, and graduated from UMass Amherst with a Turfgrass Management Bachelor’s Degree in 2015 from the Stockbridge School of Agriculture. While enrolled in school, I completed two Summer Internships, one at The Seawane Club on Long Island, NY (2014), and the other at the Oyster Harbors Club on Cape Cod, MA (2015). Following my internships and graduation, I took an Assistant Superintendent position at both the Oyster Harbors Club (2016), and Pine Brook Country Club (2017) in Weston, MA. I look forward to continuing to be a valuable member of the golf course management team. Here’s to another great season!
